Abstract

<p>Integratingcontentfrommultiplebiologicalpathwayresourcesisnecessarytofullyexploitpathwayknowledgefortheofbiologyandmedicine.Dif-ferencesincontent,representation,coverage,andmoreoccurbetweendatabases,andarechallengestoresourcemerging.Weintroduceatypologyofrepresentationaldifferencesbetweenpathwayresourcesandgiveexam-plesusingseveraldatabases:BioCyc,KEGG,PANTHERpathways,andReactome.WealsodetectandquantifyannotationmismatchesbetweenHumanCycandReactome.Thetypologyofmismatchescanbeusedtoguideentityandrelationshipalignmentbetweenthesedatabases,helpingusidentifyandunderstandinourknowledge,andallowingtheresearchcommunitytoderivegreaterfromtheexistingpathwaydata.</p>
